A hot toddy is perfect for a cold night, especially when you’re feeling under the weather. This warm cocktail is my go-to remedy for a nasty cough and a classic cold. It’s easy to make, much tastier than cough syrup, and once you learn how to make it, you’ll find relief in no time!

    Why I Love Hot Toddies

If you’ve ever wondered how to make a hot toddy, it’s incredibly simple! This drink is perfect for soothing a sore throat or cough. During cold and flu season, I often get hit with a bad head cold, and when I have the choice between grape-flavored cough syrup and a comforting Hot Toddy, the choice is obvious!

While kids might enjoy something like Dimetapp, adults can benefit from the soothing effects of whiskey. This drink is comforting, delicious, and easy to prepare. While it’s not a cure, it definitely helps alleviate symptoms and is perfect for cold, rainy nights—even if you’re not sick!

This Hot Toddy Recipe is just what the doctor ordered for those of us over the age of 21—aren’t we fortunate?

Is a Hot Toddy a Good Remedy?

Absolutely! It’s one of the best remedies I know of. The warmth of the drink can soothe your throat and cough, and whiskey acts as a decongestant, helping relieve headaches. This recipe has become a staple in my house during cold and flu season, especially with a baby in daycare.

When I’m feeling sick, the only sounds in our home are “bless you” and “leave me alone.” After a tough cold season, this drink has helped me feel better! Once my little one is in bed, it’s my turn to relax with a warm Hot Toddy and a bowl of soup.

How to Make a Hot Toddy

This cold remedy is quick to prepare—perfect for when you’re not feeling your best. You’ll need just a few soothing ingredients and about 5 minutes!

    Ingredients:

    • Whiskey (good quality)
    • Hot water
    • Honey
    • Ginger (optional)
    • Lemon juice

    Instructions:

    1. Mix whiskey, hot water, and lemon juice in a mug.
    2. Microwave for 1 minute or until hot.
    3. Stir in honey and ginger (if using) for an extra kick.
    4. Sip and enjoy! This drink will warm you up and soothe your throat, making it perfect for bedtime.

    Best Cold Remedy

Enjoying this hot toddy for a cough is far more pleasant than taking medicine!

While I’m not a doctor and don’t claim this will replace actual medicine, I believe a hot toddy can help you feel better. The combination of warm water, honey, lemon, and whiskey is perfect for lifting your spirits when you’re feeling under the weather.

Benefits of Drinking a Hot Toddy

    • Whiskey acts as a decongestant and helps relieve headache pain.
    • Hot liquids soothe a sore throat.
    • Honey and lemon help alleviate cough and congestion.
    • Ginger can significantly ease cold symptoms.

Even if you’re not sick, this comforting cocktail is great on a chilly evening. Just remember, it’s not for those under 21!

    Hot Toddy for Cough Relief

If you need a ‘Hot Toddy for Cough,’ you’re in the right place! This drink can make waiting to see a doctor a bit more enjoyable.

Cold and flu season can be tough on families. While this hot toddy won’t cure your cold (there’s no real cure; you just have to manage the symptoms), it can definitely lift your spirits and soothe your throat.

It’s great for easing coughs and sore throats—whiskey helps with that! If you need a warm, comforting drink on a chilly day, this recipe is perfect. Here’s to hoping for a quick end to cold and flu season!

    Hot Toddy Without Whiskey

If you’re under 21, you can still enjoy this soothing drink by omitting the whiskey. Just use hot water, lemon, and honey for a comforting remedy. It might be called honey lemon water, but every drink deserves a name!

Even if you’re feeling fine, a classic hot toddy can warm you up on a cold evening.
