1. Deterministic Culinary & Nutritional Formulas
Every calculator on Recipe Calculator Pro executes deterministic TypeScript formulas (`app/culinary-engine.ts`) grounded in three primary reference standards:
- USDA FoodData Central Reference Densities: Bulk density conversions (grams and weight ounces per US cup and tablespoon) and macronutrient profiles per 100g are cross-checked against USDA FoodData Central Foundation and SR Legacy records.
- FDA 21 CFR 101.9 & 101.36 Labeling Rules: Daily Value percentages (%DV) are computed against the official 2,000-calorie reference intakes (78g Total Fat, 20g Saturated Fat, 300mg Cholesterol, 2,300mg Sodium, 275g Total Carbohydrate, 28g Dietary Fiber, 50g Added Sugars, 50g Protein, 20mcg Vitamin D, 1,300mg Calcium, 18mg Iron, and 4,700mg Potassium).
- Atwater 4-4-9 & Mifflin-St Jeor Energy Equations: Macronutrient energy calculations use 4 kcal/g for protein, 4 kcal/g for carbohydrates, and 9 kcal/g for lipids/fat, paired with the Mifflin-St Jeor and revised Harris-Benedict basal metabolic equations.
